Resource Recovery & Reuse
WestRex Resource Recovery & Reuse
WestRex, in association with our affiliate JJ’s Waste & Recycling (JJ’s), offer our clients a hydrocarbon used oil collection and recycling service, including allied workshop waste services (parts washers, oily rags, filters and coolants etc.) and management of other hydrocarbon wastes, such as oily water, oily sludge and blackjack grease. WestRex are currently working with JJ’s in developing several oil recovery facilities in strategic regional locations, to support this service.
WestRex is committed to raising the industry standard by providing true used oil recycling services, in order to reduce the reliance on burning as the only disposal option for used oil. This commitment has led WestRex and our affiliate JJ’s to develop a specialised fleet and facilities for oil collection & recycling.
Westrex and JJ’s are also proud to be working in partnership with Southern Oil Refineries, to provide a true lube-to-lube recycling solution.
WESTREX WACOL FACILITY
Our Wacol Facility is strategically located in the gateway to the Western Corridor in South East Queensland. The facility provides essential waste management infrastructure including our uniquely adapted G-Force equipment.
G-Force is specialised equipment designed to maximise the efficient recovery and reuse of oil, sludges and industrial wastewater. Aside from recovering the value from this material, WestRex and JJ’s throughout its significant investment and commitment to recycling and resource recovery, will also assist in ensuring that this material does not end up in the environment, waterways, landfills and sewerage systems.
Westrex and JJ’s are the first in Australia to utilise this innovative technology to recover and reuse waste oil.
WESTREX JACKSON FACILITY
Our WestRex Jackson facility is a fully-licenced waste management and resource recovery facility for the treatment, disposal and recycling of all hydrocarbon-contaminated liquids, including oily water, oily sludge, wash water, coolant, Glycol and Tri-ethylene Glycol (TEG).
USED OIL RE-REFINERIES
Southern Oil has recently increased its re-refining capacity with the 2014 opening of the new Northern Oil Refinery (NOR) in Gladstone. Together with the original Southern Oil Refinery in Wagga Wagga, the facilities now have a combined capability to re-refine over 130 million litres of waste lube oil per year.
Re-refining removes all contaminants and worn additives from used oil to yield high quality base oil products, which are sold to manufacturers as the raw ingredient for production of new lubricating oils. Then 98% of the carbon associated with the original lube oil is preserved in our process, making it the most greenhouse gas friendly process for used oil.
Used oil aggregation facilities are managed in our WestRex facilities, or partner facilities, located in major cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Bendigo, Brisbane, Darwin, Clermont, Mackay, Mt Isa, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Townsville.
Dedicated to exceeding official environmental standards, WestRex adopts the policy of recover and reuse wherever possible. Our team of chemists and chemical engineers are continuously looking for ways to improve our recovery and reuse systems to minimise any impact on the environment, with current Environmental Best Practice in recovering and recycling oil for the manufacture of lubricant bases.
